about
Alev Lenz is back with a fresh single titled Eggshell, off her forthcoming album Two-Headed Girl.
The song is about the bottled-up anger and fear we have instilled in us from our parents. As we toughen up as a child, however, that also means staying cast in a child’s mind-set. Once an adult, it’s a journey breaking free from that, letting go of known anger to explore the adult, grown self, which only lives in the unknown i.e. without a shell.
With a strong, captivating rhythm and even stronger message, the song promises to set a powerful tone for the full album release.
lyrics
Bites your nails and pulls your hair
It's inside you no matter what suit you wear
Looks up or down
Wears your crown
The infant ruler
No one is cra- crueler
Eggshell won't you break apart
In the right spots you are strong
Your father, mother build us hard
As they pushed us all along
The reason why you're fragile now
Is the fear of breaking up
The fear of loosing what is left
Fear the child that won't grow up
I can't let go, I won't let go
This is hi-ha-home
This is me-ma throne
I'll still dri-dra-driven and nothing is forgiven
The pain and the anger
They feed my hunger
I'll scre-scra-scream from the top, from the top
From the top of my lungs
Till the burst and it will
Fill the sky , Be the shadow in the sky
Be the first and the last thing on earth
Eggshell won't you break apart
In the right spots you are strong
Your father, mother build us hard
As they pushed us all along
The reason why you're fragile now
Is the fear of breaking up
The fear of loosing what is left
Fear the child that won't grow up
Bites your nails and pulls your hair
It's inside you no matter what suit you wear
Looks up or down
Wears your crown
The infant ruler
No one is cra-crueler
Eggshell won't you break apart
In the right spots you are strong
Your father, mother build us hard
As they pushed us all along
The reason why you're fragile now
Is the fear of breaking up
The fear of loosing what is left
Fear the child that won't grow up
Found me a man I'm gonna build a house he said it's time to pardon you
Found me a man I'm gonna build a house he said it's time to pardon you
Found me a man I'm gonna build a house he said it's time to pardon you
Eggshell won't you break apart
In the right spots you are strong
Your father, mother build us hard
As they pushed us all along
The reason why you're fragile now
Is the fear of breaking up
The fear of loosing what is left
Fear the child that won't grow up
